Meet Michele M. Laws

Michele has been through a complicated divorce herself. During her case, many financial issues such as undisclosed out of state business, hidden assets, and "forgotten" accounts surfaced too late for her to benefit from. There were many ploys during the proceedings, such as stall tactics and efforts to temporarily reduce his income to distract and deplete her of any savings she had. The judge made decisions on her case SIX years after the divorce. This settlement only awarded her 18% of her marital assets! Much of this was due to the overwhelming amount of issues, missed assets during the proceeding, and financial analysis wasn't completed prior to trial. The ex was granted 82% of the marital assets. Her divorce attorney's ability to protect her was limited. The judge failed to look at the short- and long-term effect and only looked at the dollar amount.

The result of her divorce left her with too little money for her new beginning. The struggle did not stop her. Michele pushed through the hard times and used her experience to help others. Therefore, her Corporation Divorce Dollars and Sense was launches. Michele is passionate about assisting others by evaluating critical financial situations that are beyond the scope of a Family Law Attorney's expertise. She empowers her clients to make the most with their lives and money. Many of her clients come to her feeling powerless, desperate, and discouraged. Michele's goal is to give them hope in their situation and educate them on how to become independent and take control of their financial lives. She understands the importance of having a divorce team, not just legal counsel.

Michele will assist by providing numerical evidence to support the needs of each case. She wants to ensure a stable financial future and prevent long term regret. "My clients just assume they will "be okay", but they shouldn't. They should do their homework and understand what they are signing. They only have one opportunity to get it right."

Michele is a registered Investment Advisor with DFPG Investments, member of FINRA/SIPC, and is president of Turning Point Financial Group and Divorce Dollars and Sense Corporation. For over 19 years she has been helping individuals make sense of the financial changes in their life. She has a B.A. in Business with a focus in finance.
